Predicting local heat events with sensors
On its way to becoming a smart city, the city of Langenfeld has also focused on climate protection. One important element is the climate measurement network consisting of our ensor nodes, of which around 80 are installed in the city. The city installed the sensors on its own with the help of our smartphone app.
Langenfeld uses the sensor network to investigate the relationship between urban heat islands and various climate protection measures. It also enables the prediction and assessment of local heat events.
The sensor system is part of a series of digitization measures of the city administration. For example, the measured values and products derived from them will flow into the digital data platform and thus be available to the city administration and citizens.
